Benefits of a Managed Service Network.

If you own or manage a small or medium sized company you should consider Precision Managed Services for your buisness network. To better understand managed services lets say your company network is just like a car. Your car is your main transportation to and from any location. A business network is your main communication to your customers and employees. A businesses network is just like a car because it needs to be maintained to perform efficiently. A car needs a routine oil change and car wash. A business network needs windows patches and backups maintained. You get the idea right. Managed services for a buisness network is like an automated oil change and car wash but, you don't have to schedule the service for the network because its all automated. Its all done by the Managed Service Provider and the software they use designed to manage business networks. Companies like Kaseya provide an agent that can be installed on any machine you would like to have automated. Most MSP provide different levels of managed services. Here is a short list of some of the proactive services provided by a MSP.

Small Buisness Disaster Recovery, Are you prepared?

Different levels of backups and disaster recovery are available for all companies, but the smaller companies may not be prepared. What level of backups does your company have? I recommend a Managed Service backup plan that not only backup’s files and databases but also images all the critical servers and workstations in a company. It may be a little over kill but without the company data there would be no company. Consider the fact that hundreds of companies go out of business because they are not able to recover from the loss of company files. I recommend three layers of backups and imaging. The first backup is a disk to disk backup. The second is a tape or disk backup to be taken off site. This is a no brainer and you will be surprised how may companies I deal with choose not to take a backup offsite. The last backup would be an online backup and imaging. There are a lot of good online backup companies available and with the increase in bandwidth this option is becoming easier to provide. The price for the three layer backups and maintaining the backups can get financially costly. Remember that each layer of backup has a limitation. The disk to disk has the potential for the backups on the other disk to crash. The offsite backups while not at the company location can also get damaged. The online backup will have some restoration limitations and time constraints. If you would like to know more about a managed service backup plan contact me at FMiksiewicz@JunctionPC.com

Got Spam!

For a couple of years now I have been recommending an off site spam email solution to my customers. Sending all the company email to an off site source that will clean the email has a lot of benefits. The off site servers can filter the email for spam and viruses. Email can be archived for up to five years. We can create a secure connection with the spam filter reducing any possible vulnerabilities with a email server. The entire process of moving a company to the spam filter is transparent to our customers. It takes about two hours to completely setup the off site email filter and make some additional changes. The best part about the off site email filter is that our email server now receives only clean email. The need for a separate email filter installed on my email server is gone. I also reduce my time needed to manage any spam emails. All the resources consumed by the spam software installed on my email server are also now gone. This allows a email server to run more efficiently. I have setup companies on a couple of different off site email filters. I have found that without a doubt Spam Soap provides the best overall service. Junction PC of Doylestown is a reseller for Spam Soap.
